Home energy savings questions
How accurate is the home energy savings estimate?
RenewableCalc uses visible formulas, local defaults, and public benchmark sources, but the result is still a planning estimate. Utility bills, quotes, roof conditions, tariffs, export credits, and project year should be verified before purchase decisions.
Which calculator should I start with?
Start with Solar ROI if you know your state and monthly electric bill. Use Energy Consumption first if you need to understand household load, EV Charging if a vehicle is the main new load, and Battery Storage when backup or evening usage is the priority.
Does RenewableCalc replace installer quotes or tax advice?
No. The calculators are educational planning tools. Final system design, tax eligibility, utility interconnection, permitting, and financing decisions should be reviewed with qualified professionals.
Why does project year matter?
The Section 25D federal residential solar credit expired December 31, 2025. For 2026+ projects, RenewableCalc defaults the federal credit to 0% by default. Lease and PPA systems may still benefit from Section 48E commercial ITC, but that credit goes to the system owner (installer), not you. Always verify current IRS rules and your tax situation.
