Formula & Methodology

Appliance energy consumption is calculated as: Daily kWh = Power Rating (Watts) x Hours of Use per Day / 1000. Monthly usage multiplies by 30. Australian households should model seasonal loads separately because summer air conditioning, electric heating in cooler states, and pool pumps can dominate monthly kWh. Use AEMO and retailer tariffs for cents-per-kWh, and use Energy Rating Label annual kWh figures where appliance runtime is uncertain.
